It’s not always that you get an inimitable opportunity to stir up passions and evoke strong emotions in the hearts of your countrymen. But this gutsy, young lad from Chandigarh will get a unique chance to do so. Meet 17-year-old golfer Aadil Bedi, who has scripted history by becoming the youngest Golfer to represent India in the prestigious Asian Games.

When 4moles.com caught up with him for a brief telephonic interaction, he enthused, “I’m delighted that I would be representing my country for such a prestigious event. It’s definitely like a dream come true. I hope I am able to inspire a lot of young talent to take up Golf as their career.”

Six other young Indian Golfers that include Harimohan Singh, Diksha Dagar, Kshitij Naveed Kaul, Rayhan Thomas, Siffat Sagoo and Ridhima Dilawari have qualified for the Asian games.

Aadil, who was number one on the Indian Golf Union merit list, earned his berth for the Asian Games by finishing second in the six-day trials for the Asian Games held in Gurgaon and Noida.

And his career is dotted with interesting milestones. Aadil, who took up Golf at the young age of 4, clocked 10000 hours of practice in 13 years, won 168 medals and trophies in 284 national and international matches across the globe. At present Aadil Bedi is the top Amateur golfer and has 281 points out of 9 matches won 1, runner-up in 2, three-time at T5, 3 times T10 so far in IGU amateur circuit in men’s division.

He shared, “I play because I love what I do. My parents have played a consequential role in sharpening my Golfing skills.”

On turning a football ground into a small Golf course

When 4moles.com caught up with Aadil’s proud father Harry Bedi (an amateur Golfer), he shared with an enthusiasm in his voice, “We are indeed happy. Both of us are Government officials and we were posted around 50 kilometres from Chandigarh. There was a football ground right behind our house and Aadil turned into a small Golf course. Seeing his passion and dedication for Golf, we shifted our base to Chandigarh. We are eagerly looking forward to him to play in the Asian Games.”

Come August, and it would be interesting to see how these young Golfers play a colossal role in the India growth story at the Asian Games. We wish them all the success.
