January 22nd 2010, New Delhi: One hoped that sun God would be a little more benevolent on the last day to allow the players some smile. That was not to be as conditions were as gloomy as on all previous days. One wondered if I.L.S (Instrument Landing System) would have helped player’s confidence.

Play started at 11 am with leaders viz Smriti Mehra, Sharmila Nicollet and Saaniya Sharma teeing of last. Smriti dropped a shot on the first hole itself to go 3 over and reducing the gap between her and Sharmila to 8. Smriti was quick to recover by birdieng the second hole. Third hole, par 3 saw Sharmila dropping two shots from just off the green to slip to 13 over. Greens continued to tease as several small putts failed to fall.

Playing consistent golf Smriti returned a level par score for the day with her four birdies at hole nos 2,7,17 and 18.

Saaniya Sharma, the long hitting pro, who was playing level par after the eighth hole but missed a put on par 5 ninth hole, displayed commendable golf. Saaniya played two over par with two birdies on 5th and 16th hole.

Nalini Singh Siwach played steady golf today and with 14 pars and a lone birdie on the finishing hole she returned a score of two over par for the day.

With a series of bogeys and double bogey Sharmila scored 2 over in first nine and 6 over in the back nine.

Sharmila Nicollet came in with a disappointing score of 80 today and is tied at third position with Nalini Singh Siwach.
