Despite Marc Leishman and Brian Harman sharing the lead at the Tournament of Champions after two days, it was Jordan Spieth who stole the show at the Kapalua Plantation Course.
Jordan Spieth makes an impressive comeback on Day 2
The No. 2 player in the world bounced back in style with a 7-under 66 on Friday as he gained four more strokes on the field than he did on Thursday.
"Today I just kind of said, 'I'm 2-over, and hey, if it doesn't turn out then it's just the start of the year, may as well fire at stuff.' I just felt more free today, which certainly helped. I had a really rusty short game. Today was a good day for it. Doesn't mean it's back, it means that it was progress. Progress is good,” he said.
Marc Leishman lead on Day 2
Australia's Leishman, who held a one-stroke overnight lead, had four birdies without a bogey in his four-under 69 on the Plantation Course at Kapalua.
He was joined on 10-under par 136 by America's Harman, who had seven birdies in a five-under par 68.
When the Kapalua greens generated a lot of buzz!
The Plantation course generated a lot of buzz among the Twitterati and others as it appeared fatigued and blotted. However, while failing on the aesthetic front, the greens' functionality remains intact.
As a statement mentioned, officials are combating the effects by slowing the greens down. It's an adjustment most players didn't seem to mind.
