CHARLOTTE, NC: The second day saw the dominance of not-so known players on the leaderboard.
Japan's Hideki Matsuyama shot a brilliant seven-under-par 64 to share the US PGA Championship lead with South Carolina’s Kevin Kisner after a rain-affected second round.
Hideki Matsuyama storms to the top of the leaderboard at Quail Hollow
Matsuyama won last week’s World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational for his third win of the season. He is the fourth player this season with at least three wins, joining Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth.
Kevin Kisner turned in a second-consecutive 4-under 67 to move to 8-under 134, sharing the clubhouse lead with FedExCup leader Hideki Matsuyama.
Kevin Kisner played brilliantly on Day 2
Kisner is seeking his third-consecutive trip to the season-ending TOUR Championship. He finished No. 21 in the FedExCup in 2015 and No. 23 in 2016. Kisner owns six top-10 finishes and is currently No. 9 in the FedExCup.
Weather woes
Sources had earlier predicted that rain could be a dampener at the 99th PGA Championship. And so it happened. The play was suspended for some time due to bad weather conditions and resumed again after a delay of almost 2 hours.
