Alex Fitzpatrick claimed his maiden DP World Tour title with a composed final round to win the 2026 Indian Open at nine under par, overturning a deficit to edge past overnight leader Eugenio Chacarra in a tense Sunday finish.
The Englishman produced a strong back nine just when the leaderboard tightened, capitalising on late mistakes from Chacarra, who had started the final day in control at ten under. The Spaniard, who led after round three, slipped during the closing stretch and settled for runner up after being overtaken late in the round.
Fitzpatrick’s victory marks the biggest win of his professional career and earns him approximately INR 4 crore in prize money. The win places him among first time champions on the DP World Tour this season and caps a steady week of controlled ball striking on a demanding layout that challenged the entire field.
Chacarra began the day with a comfortable cushion and looked in command early despite a mixed start. Fitzpatrick gradually chipped away at the lead with timely birdies while staying patient through the difficult middle stretch.
The momentum shifted on the back nine. Fitzpatrick strung together birdies while Chacarra dropped shots under pressure. The Englishman moved ahead late and maintained composure down the closing holes to secure a two shot victory at nine under.

It proved to be a disappointing week for the home contingent. Only three Indians made the cut out of 30 in the field, highlighting the difficulty of the course and the gap against an experienced international lineup.
S Manoj and Om Prakash Chauhan were the highest placed Indians, both finishing tied 43rd at ten over par. No Indian featured inside the top 30, underlining a difficult outing for the domestic challenge.
The 2026 edition once again lived up to its reputation as one of the toughest tests on the DP World Tour calendar. Scores remained high throughout the week and even players under par were rare heading into the weekend.
The winning score of nine under reflects both the demanding setup and the patience required. Several contenders fell back after one poor stretch, while Fitzpatrick’s steady play ultimately proved decisive.
Fitzpatrick’s victory gives him a breakthrough moment on the global stage and establishes him as one to watch this season. Overhauling a deficit against a confident leader showed composure and maturity, especially on a course where momentum can quickly disappear.
The Indian Open once again delivered drama, pressure golf and a new champion, with Alex Fitzpatrick emerging as the player who handled it best.
