Golf enthusiasts were treated to a captivating press conference as some of the world’s finest golfers shared their thoughts on the International Series event at the DLF Golf and Country Club. The event marks a historic moment for Indian golf, being the first International Series tournament held in the country. From reflections on the challenging course to aspirations for the season, here’s what the golf stars had to say.

SSP Chawrasia and Rahil Gangjee Reflect on Familiar Grounds

SSP Chawrasia, a two-time winner at the DLF Golf and Country Club, expressed his excitement about returning to the course after three years. “The greens are faster and tougher than last time,” he shared, emphasizing the challenges ahead. “I feel amazing coming here. I have great memories and look forward to applying my experience over the next four days.”

Rahil Gangjee, who recently showcased his prowess on the Asian Development Tour, highlighted the importance of adaptability. “No matter how good you’re playing, you always have to play even better,” Rahil remarked. He praised the course’s fast greens and strong field, while noting that staying positive and executing shots would be critical to success.

A Historic Moment for Indian Golf

Both SSP and Rahil acknowledged the significance of hosting an International Series event in India. Rahil commented, “It’s fantastic, not just for Indian players but for putting Indian golf on the map. Events like this showcase our courses and players to the world.”

SSP expressed his enthusiasm for competing alongside big names, including US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau. “It’s great for Indian golf that he’s here,” he said. “If I get the chance to play alongside him, it will be a wonderful experience.”

Insights from Joaquin Niemann, Carlos Ortiz, and Sebastian Munoz

For Joaquin Niemann, the defending International Series Order of Merit winner, the event serves as an exciting start to the season. Reflecting on his strong finish last year in Riyadh, he shared, “This course will be a good challenge to prepare for the season ahead.”
