"He's made his mark but I think now is the right time to say you've got this thing off the ground but no one's going to talk unless there's an adult in the room that can actually try to mend fences."
The above statement was claimed by the famous 33 year old golfer Rory Mcllroy.
Rory Mcllroy at a press conference
Rory, the world number one golfer asserted in a press conference before the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, "Greg needs to go. He needs to exit stage left," Mcllroy is quite suggesting the breakaway that the LIV Golf’s CEO Greg Norman should not be present anymore on the stage of golf.
The two sides in the ongoing civil war between the LIV and PGA Tour and DP World Tour are seen by all. Where PGA Tour and DP World being on one side the LIV Golf on the other.
Rory Mcllroy has been showing his greatest support to the PGA Tour in this battle but also being a professional has been calling for a compromise to be made between the rival factions. However, this can somehow be contradicted from his latest comment on Greg Norman where he believes that a permanent solution can never be there if Norman remains at the helm of LIV Golf which is expanding to a 14-event league schedule in 2023.
LIV Golf denied the rumors of Norman being replaced by the former TaylorMade executive Mark King. This also got some more concerns regarding the lawsuits which needs to be resolved before coming to any conclusion.
McIlroy also said, “There’s the PGA Tour versus LIV and there’s obviously this one that’s coming up with the DP World Tour in February. Nothing can happen if those two things are going on. Right now it is a bit of a stalemate.”
The future of many LIV players will be determined in the legal hearing of this case in February.
There are players such as Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood who can be disqualified for the Ryder Cup and banned from DP World Tour. There have been many players to which Mcllroy’s relationship has been vandalized due to their inclination towards LIV Golf where these players will be playing along with Luke Donald in Rome next year.
LIV Golf declined to respond to McIlroy’s comments. But Jon Rahm is another name who has taken a room for Rory's favor and his comment. World No 5 Jon Rahm has appreciated the efforts of Rory and the way he made such strong statements against LIV Golf and stated that he is worried for the legacy of fellow Spaniard Sergio Garcia.
