In a superb display of golf under pressure, England’s Tommy Fleetwood claimed the title at the inaugural DP World India Championship, posting a final-round 7-under to finish at -22 and clinch the championship ahead of a world-class field.

Fleetwood’s victory marks a major milestone in his 2025 campaign — combining rhythm, resolve and nerves of steel at the tight, tree-lined layout of the Delhi Golf Club. There were no distractions this week: his tee-to-green accuracy and crucial par-saves under fire were the hallmark of a champion at work.
Japan’s rising star Keita Nakajima made a valiant bid for the title, finishing solo second at -20. Nakajima electrified the field with a bogey-free third‐round 7-under 65, jumping into the lead and setting the stage for a thrilling finale.

A trio of accomplished golfers — Shane Lowry, Alex Fitzpatrick and Thriston Lawrence — shared third place at -18, each demonstrating formidable form in their own right on a demanding course.
Indian contingent shines on home turf
The tournament’s significance for Indian golf was underlined by strong showings from local stars. Shiv Kapur led the Indian charge, finishing tied 32nd at -9. Dhruv Sheoran ended in a tie for 36th at -8, while Shubhankar Sharma and Anirban Lahiri both finished tied 56th at -3. The local stars showed grit and promise on a global stage.

Key takeaways from the week
Quote from the champion
“To come here to India, to this course, and to finish at -22 is something I’ll remember for a long time. The golf has been solid all week, but closing it out when the pressure was on is what makes this special. I had one more shot in me today and I delivered when it counted.” — Tommy Fleetwood
What’s next?
With this victory, Fleetwood now turns his attention to the remaining tournaments on the season as the Race to Dubai intensifies. For India’s own hopefuls, the tournament offered invaluable experience on home soil and will likely serve as a spring-board for further success.
