STORY BY AKSH GUPTA

Delhi has never been short of legends. Its history has been shaped by empires, dynasties, battles and generations of people who came to the city with the ambition to leave their mark. But what if, hidden somewhere between the stories that survived and those that disappeared, there was another story waiting to be told?

A story of two Rajkumaris. Two women who once represented courage, ambition and a spirit that refused to be forgotten. And a story that, centuries later, finds its way back to Delhi in a completely different form.

For Delhi Royals, this is the story of a royal return.

The following is a fictional legend created as part of the Delhi Royals storytelling universe.

What if Delhi's lost royalty returned after 200 years?

What if Delhi's lost royalty returned after 200 years?

The Origin of a Forgotten Royalty

Two centuries ago, in the imagined world of the Delhi Royals legend, two Rajkumaris stood at the heart of Delhi. They were known not merely for their royal lineage, but for the courage with which they carried themselves and the strength of their character.

They represented a different idea of royalty. One built not only on privilege, but on discipline, ambition and the willingness to stand their ground. Delhi was their kingdom, and their story became part of a legacy that seemed destined to live forever.

But history has a way of choosing which stories survive.

Two Rajkumaris, one kingdom, and a legacy built on courage and spirit.

Two Rajkumaris, one kingdom, and a legacy built on courage and spirit.

Then, the story disappeared.

The names of the two Rajkumaris slowly faded from the chronicles. The kingdom changed. Generations came and went. Delhi transformed around them, its streets, skylines and identity evolving with every passing era.

Yet perhaps the most powerful legends are not the ones that remain written in history. They are the ones that refuse to disappear completely.

Somewhere beneath the changing face of Delhi, their spirit remained.

Their names faded. Their kingdom changed. But the legend remained.

Their names faded. Their kingdom changed. But the legend remained.

The Rebirth

Centuries later, the legend takes an unexpected turn.

Two women emerged with a remarkably similar spirit. Different time. Different world. Different ambitions. Yet the same instinct to challenge convention and build something of their own.

Vega Jahajgarhia and Tanvi Gupta.

In the Delhi Royals universe, they are the modern rebirth of those two forgotten Rajkumaris. But they have not returned to reclaim a palace or sit upon a throne.

They have returned to build something. Something that belongs to a new Delhi. A Delhi that is ambitious, modern, competitive and constantly redefining itself.

Centuries later, two women return with the same royal spirit. Vega Jahajgarhia and Tanvi Gupta begin a new chapter.

Centuries later, two women return with the same royal spirit. Vega Jahajgarhia and Tanvi Gupta begin a new chapter.

Their answer was not another kingdom in the traditional sense. It was a sporting franchise. And not just any franchise.

Delhi Royals was built around a vision that places women at its centre. An all-women team representing Delhi on a stage where cities compete, rivalries develop and sporting identities are created.

Vega and Tanvi did not inherit this kingdom.

They built it.

The Delhi Royals story therefore becomes bigger than a team. It becomes a statement about who gets to lead, who gets to compete and what the future of sport can look like when women are given the opportunity to shape it from the front.

They did not return to claim a throne. They built a new one.

They did not return to claim a throne. They built a new one.

A New Kind of Royal Battle

And now, the Rajkumaris return for a new kind of battle.

There are no royal courts to conquer and no kingdoms to defend. The new battlefield is the sporting arena, where preparation meets pressure, ambition meets competition and every performance adds another page to the story.

For Delhi Royals, the symbolism is deliberate. The team carries the name of one of the world's most historic cities, while its identity looks firmly towards the future.

Two women at the helm. An all-women Royal force. One city to represent. The legend that once disappeared has found its modern form.

Two Rajkumaris. One city. One Royal force. Delhi's next chapter begins now.
Two Rajkumaris. One city. One Royal force. Delhi's next chapter begins now.

The Royal Trial of India gives that story its stage.

As Delhi Royals continue their journey, the franchise is not simply trying to recreate the past. It is using the idea of royalty to create something entirely new, where legacy is not inherited but earned, and where the next chapter belongs to those willing to write it.

For Vega Jahajgarhia and Tanvi Gupta, the throne was never the destination.

The legacy is.

And this time, Delhi's Royal story is only beginning.
