Indian Team to represent the country in Philippines!

Indian representation team is selected by the Indian Golf Union which will represent the country at the esteemed APGC Junior Championship at Orchard Golf and Country Club in Philippines from May 16-18, 2023. 

 

 

The team comprises of Sukhman Singh, Jujjhar Singh, Nishna Patel, and Avani Prashanth. This tournament is recognized as the pinnacle of Asia-Pacific’s team and individual championships for young boys and girls.

The criteria for the tournaments states that the participants must be 17 years or under as of August 30 each year to be eligible.

 

In particular, the winner of the boys’ individual competition earns an exemption to compete in the prestigious Diamond Cup in Japan, while the girls’ individual champion secures an opportunity to participate in the KIA Korea Women’s Open.

 

The region’s premier team and individual championship for boys and girls features leading junior players from 11 APGC member nations as well as two strong teams representing the European Golf Association (EGA).

 

The format for the championship is stroke play, mixed gender team competition. Teams are made up of one male and one female player from each country and the aggregate gross score of both players will be the team’s score.

Lowest team scores after 54 holes will be declared the winners. The lowest 54-hole individual score from both boys’ and girls’ divisions will also be recognised.

 

Among other notables to have competed in the APGC Junior Championships are the last two winners of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC), Japan’s Keita Nakajima and Australian Harrison Crowe.
