Delhi Royals are set to add a remarkable new chapter to their GRPL Season 1 story as sisters Jahanvi Bakshi and Hitaashee Bakshi come together in the Delhi Royals colours for the Gurugram Leg of The Royal Trial of India on 16th October at Classic Golf and Country Club.

 

For most teams, adding two accomplished professionals would be a major squad announcement. For Delhi Royals, it carries something more personal.

 

The captain is returning. And this time, she has her sister beside her.

 

Jahanvi Bakshi, who captains Delhi Royals, returns to the GRPL stage alongside her younger sister Hitaashee Bakshi, one of India's leading women professionals and a player with experience on the international stage.

 

The sisters have shared a golf journey since childhood. They turned professional together in 2020 and have competed against, pushed and supported each other throughout their careers. Their relationship has also produced memorable results on the course, including a winner-runner-up finish at a Women's Pro Golf Tour event.

 

Now, for the first time in GRPL, they will wear the same jersey, represent the same city and compete for the same franchise.

 

Hitaashee Brings International Experience

 

Hitaashee arrives with a resume that makes the announcement even bigger.

She was the No. 1 player in the 2024 Women's Pro Golf Tour rankings and subsequently made her mark internationally on the Ladies European Tour. In 2025, she produced her best LET finish to date at the Hero Women's Indian Open, finishing third at DLF Golf & Country Club after leading the tournament through three rounds. That performance helped her secure full playing rights for the 2026 LET season.

Her international record includes a top-10 finish at the 2026 Australian WPGA Championship, while she has also competed in events across Europe, Australia and Asia.

 

Her return to the domestic circuit this year has also brought her back into competition with some of India's strongest professionals, underlining the depth of the women's game in the country.

 

For Delhi Royals, that experience adds another dimension to an already distinctive squad.

 

A Captain Returns With Her Sister

 

For Jahanvi, the Gurugram Leg also marks an important return.

 

As the captain of Delhi Royals, her presence adds leadership to a franchise that has built its identity around competing against the traditional expectations of professional sport.

 

And now, she has an unusual advantage. She knows her teammate better than almost anyone.

On 16th October, that relationship moves from the family golf course to the GRPL stage.

The arrival of the Bakshi sisters reinforces that philosophy in a particularly powerful way.

 

It is not simply about having women on a roster. It is about putting accomplished women professionals at the centre of the story.

And Delhi Royals are not alone in bringing leading women professionals into GRPL's city-versus-city format.

 

Ridhima Dilawari, one of India's leading professionals and the standout performer on the domestic women's circuit this season, represents KHT Bangalore Eagles. Jahnavi Prakhya leads the Gurugram Titans as captain, adding another accomplished female professional to the leadership landscape of GRPL. 

 

Together, these stories point towards something bigger. Women are no longer simply part of the conversation around Indian golf. They are helping lead it.
