The 84th Masters truly was a Tournament unlike any other. Playing in November and without patrons provided something never seen before on the grounds of Augusta National. It also ended with something special when Dustin Johnson set the 72-hole scoring record at 20 under par. More importantly, he took home his first Green Jacket.

Dustin Johnson hits his tee shot at No. 1 during Sunday’s final round at the 2020 Masters.

Fog slightly delayed the start of Sunday’s final round at the 2020 Masters. The final group arrived at the 12th tee at Augusta national at 1 p.m. Sunday, 15th November.

Johnson did not dawdle before hitting an 8-iron. His ball and three-stroke lead safely to the green, 21 feet left of the flagstick. There was a deep breath followed by a half-smile and a pivotal par, with three consecutive birdies after that, assuring this big one wasn’t going to get away from him as a handful of the others.

According to the algorithms, he has been the best player on the planet for 104 total weeks. He has won 70 million USD playing this game, played on the four U.S. Ryder Cup teams, won a major and a FedEx Cup and now 24 events on the PGA Tour.

Playing his 11th Masters. Johnson owned this unique event, which was delayed by seven months because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He shot a final-round 68 to accompany previous score of 65, 70 and 65 to finish at 20-under 268, breaking the Tournament record of 270 shared by Woods (1997) and Jordan Spieth (2015). Johnson also tied the all-time major scoring mark in relation to par held by Jason Day at 2015 PGA Championship and Henrik Stenson at the 2016 Open.

Johnson defeated Cameron Smith of Australia and Sungjae Im of South Korea by five strokes. Nobody in the history of the Masters has ever touched 20 under on the leaderboard. He did it with a birdie on the 15th green.

Johnson is awarded the Green Jacket by the former Masters Champion Tiger Woods after winning during Round 4 of the Masters.
