A maiden championship is taking place on the greens of NISA (National Industrial Security Academy) Hyderabad, wherein about 100 golfers are competing to quench their love for golf. Since the civilians strive to learn and follow their passion, the NISA golf course proffers a privilege to the civilians for playing on the sprawling greens of this golf course.

The sight of young golfing talent Adish Rajamani and women golfer K. Pooja showing their stellar golfing skills on the NISA golf course can be an inspiration for a number of amateur golfers. Thus, this lively sight of people putting off their talent makes this venue a preferred destination to play golf and escape the hustle of life.

“I am enjoying the ambiance and hope to be a regular here,” exclaims Pooja, for whom the ongoing NISA Open Golf Tournament, sponsored by Car KIA Automobile Dealers (Jubilee Hills), was her first such experience.

The 100 golfers competing in the very first tournament hosted by NISA marks the beginning of a new chapter in promoting golf for the civilians at the NISA campus. The credit goes to the director, C.V. Anand. He feels that the 9 hole campus at NISA campus is a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

“The tournament has the twin objective of creating awareness among civilians about the lush green golf course here and help us in improving the facility,” says Anand.

“In future, we are going to throw open the NISA Environmental Park and Training Area but will do the necessary screening and allow the golf enthusiasts by charging what we call ‘green fee’ and will also take up a limited membership drive soon,” he explains, adding that all-out efforts are being made to popularise the course. “We are keen to spend our Rs.1 lakh monthly grant on the sporting activity,” he adds.

Senior IPS officer Rajendra Kumar, who is an avid golfer, feels the course is “challenging with a lot of trees and bunkers around and near the fairways”. “That should make golfers come back frequently,” he says.

Great step for the development of the sport of golf. I am looking forward to similar steps by defense golf courses as well and open their golf courses for tournaments and Indian civilians.

Though I am yet to play on the course but from the talks going around in the golfing circles it can be concluded that NISA has earned a place in the minds of large number of golfers in Secunderabd. I am sure that it will be a regular feature in their golf itinerary. With a keen golfer like Mr Anand being their in the helm of affairs the golfer can expect a beautiful golfing environment and challenges at NISA .Best wishes and happy golfing.
