Texas: Indian Golfer Anirban is back in contention after a week-long break that he took to improve his game. The 33-year-old Indian fired a second successive 3-under 69 to move up three rungs to fifth place on 7-under 209. This, made him cap off the weekend at the Valero Texas Open.

He has continued to surge his position right from the 2nd round when he battled to a 3-under 69 to surge his rank on the leaderboard. With this, he came under the top-10 after the 2nd round of the tournament.

After carding a birdie on two, the former Asian No. 1 endured a ball-striking back nine with three birdies. It was followed by three bogeys and one eagle at TPC San Antonio in Texas for a 2 day total of 4-under 140.

American Golfer, Cameron Triangle began with his strong opening day with a 3-under 69 to take a two-shot lead into the weekend. Had he managed to stick to the first position it could have been Triangle’s maiden PGA Tour victory.

While triangle made five consecutive birdies from hole numbers 13-17, Lahiri holed in a 20 foot, marvelous eagle shot on the 14th hole in the back nine, he left the course with an unpleasant disposition, following a closing birdie on the par 5, 18th hole when his 2nd shot went into a water creek.

A few weeks back Anirban took a sabbatical from his game to improve his grip and shots. Following which he made a comeback at the Valero Texas Open 2021. He feels that

"I've been working on my ball striking and it was nice to see it come together. I was happy that I made a lot of birdies, dropped a few but trying to keep a clean card over the weekend," said Lahiri.

“I’m really happy with the way I played. I think this is the most solid I’ve played tee to green in a while. I felt really calm and, you know, I kind of knew what I was doing and it’s really nice. I do feel like I left quite a few shots out there. I hit it really well. So yeah, I think I would have liked to be maybe two, three shots better, but still got a look at it tomorrow. If I can go out and do the same things I did today, maybe make a couple more, it would be nice to get in the hunt,” said Lahiri.

Jordan Spieth entered the week by lifting the title at this tournament. With this, the 27-year-old claimed his win with a final-round, six-under 66 on the fairways of TPC Antonio.
