Defending champion Australia Brett Rumford’s victory last year at the World Super 6 Perth holds a special place in his heart. But on the first day of the tournament, he ensured that proximity to fame doesn’t go onto his head and he opened with a blazing eight-under-par 64 to lead by two shots at the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth on Thursday.
Brett Rumford has a very decent record at the Lake Karrinyup Country Club
Rumford was on a roll at the Lake Karrinyup Country Club, carding seven birdies before making the turn at the 18th hole. He made bogeys at the first and third holes, but recovered with three more birdies before ending his round.
Nine players shot matching 67s to share fourth place. They including Asian Tour members Nicholas Fung of Malaysia as well as Thais Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Prom Meesawat.
India’s Shiv Kapur tweeted a super cool picture of him playing a round of cricket with the kids out there at Perth. His tweet read ‘Our own version of world super 6 Perth’. He had earlier said that Golf in India is growing up fast and furious and is poised to grow at an unprecedented rate.
Danny Willett came up with an interesting way to prepare for action. He took out time from the golf course and went Skydiving ahead of the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth. Now, that’s quite a good way to prepare for the tournament!
