April 26th 2016, Montgomery, Texas, U.S.A.: Tiger Woods took another step in his recovery from back surgery, playing golf Monday at the opening of Bluejack National, his first course design to open in the United States. The five holes he played alongside Mark O'Meara were the first he's played since finishing 10th at the Wyndham Championship in August, Woods said.

Bluejack National is located in Montgomery, Texas, about an hour outside Houston.

Woods said he is still unable to swing at full speed as he recovers from the two back surgeries he had late last year, but is happy with the progress he has made.

"I would not have said I would be here like this five months ago," Woods said. "I wouldn't have thought I'd be able to do what I did here now. Or play with my kids again, things of that nature.

"It's been a long road. To actually be able to play soccer with my kids again, to do something like this, to be able to live life ... that's what's been nice. Five months ago I couldn't. To be three months out of surgery and feel like that, it was tough. I still have a long ways to go. ... I'm on the back side. I'm getting better, but I'm also getting closer to feeling better every day."

Woods also was in the news Monday after it was reported that he had registered for the U.S. Open, which will be played June 16-19 at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. He said Monday that he still does not know when he will return to the PGA TOUR.
