SCORESHEET
DAY 2
DAY 1

April 10th 2010, Augusta, Georgia, U.S.A.: Lee Westwood (-12) holds a one-shot lead over Phil Mickelson after Saturday’s third round, and Tiger Woods and K.J. Choi are four strokes back.

In 48 major championship appearances before this week, Lee Westwood had never held a lead after any round. He was also co-leader after the second round.

Lee Westwood has held two third-round leads in his PGA TOUR career. He won the Freeport-McDermott Classic in 1998 after holding the third-round lead and finished T2 at the 2008 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational after holding the third round co-lead.

Prior to Saturday, Lee Westwood’s best position after Round 3 of a major was second at the 2008 British Open (3). The only other time he recorded three straight sub-par rounds in a major was at the 1999 Masters (T6/75-71-68-71).

Lee Westwood is leading the field this week in greens in regulation (43 of 54 – 79.63%).

International players (Trevor Immelman in 2008 and Angel Cabrera in 2009) have claimed back-to-back Masters wins for the first time since Jose Maria Olazabal (1999) and Vijay Singh (2000) won in back-to-back years. There is only one occasion when international players have won more than two consecutive Masters. From 1988 to 1991, International players won four straight titles at the Masters (1988-Sandy Lyle, 1989-Nick Faldo, 1990-Nick Faldo and 1991-Ian Woosnam).

The last time Lee Westwood recorded three straight rounds in the 60s in a TOUR event was the 2008 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational (T2/70-65-67-69).

Phil Mickelson recorded back-to-back eagles at No. 13 and No. 14. It was his first career eagle at No. 14 at Augusta National.

In 17 previous starts at Augusta National, only once has Mickelson recorded four sub-par rounds in a week (2001/3rd). Mickelson has three sub-par rounds so far this week.

Phil Mickelson’s (67) best round at Augusta National is a 65 in 1996 (finished 3rd). His next best round was a 66 at the 1995 Masters (T7).

Phil Mickelson is trying to join seven other players with three or more Masters wins. They are Jack Nicklaus (6), Arnold Palmer (4), Tiger Woods (4), Jimmy Demaret (3), Sam Snead (3), Gary Player (3) and Nick Faldo (3).

The last time Phil Mickelson recorded two eagles in a round was the final round of the 2006 BellSouth Classic, which he won. Prior to Saturday, he had eight career rounds with a pair of eagles on TOUR.

Prior to Mickelson’s back-to-back eagles on No. 13 (par 5) and No. 14 (par 4), Brian Vranesh was the last player to record back-to-back eagles on TOUR (2009 Buick Open). Mickelson also recorded back-to-back eagles at the 2001 British Open (Round 1, Holes 6 and 7 – both par 5s).

Mickelson was close to recording a third straight eagle on No. 15. Since 1983, no player on TOUR has recorded three straight eagles. Joe Ogilvie is the last player to record three eagles in one round at the 2007 Frys.com Open.

Angel Cabrera was the only player to hold the 54-hole lead/co-lead in a major last year and win.

So far this season, the third-round leader has won eight of 14 times on TOUR.

Out of his 71 career wins, Tiger Woods has come from behind 21 times. In 2009, Tiger Woods came from behind to win three times by three or more strokes.

Matteo Manassero became the fourth-youngest player to ever make a cut on the PGA TOUR last year when he finished T12 at the British Open (16 years, 2 months, 29 days). Manassero made the cut this week at the Masters (16 years, 11 months, 21 days) to also grab the sixth spot in the record book for youngest to ever make a cut on the PGA TOUR. He is the youngest to make the cut in the Masters and in the modern era at the British Open. Ryo Ishikawa is the youngest player to ever make the cut at the PGA Championship.

Manassero is leading the field with 81 total putts this week. Tom Watson, Bill Haas and Ryan Moore are second with 83.

The 505-yard par-4 11th hole (4.301) is playing the most difficult this week with only nine birdies all week. The 575-yard par-5 2nd hole (4.633) is the least difficult hole this week.
