On the back nine of the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Houston Open on Saturday morning, Jason Kokrak had reason to fear he had shot himself out. When it mattered most, he played 10 strokes better on Sunday afternoon, scoring four consecutive birdies for a 5-under 65 and a two-shot triumph.

With six holes to play and two strokes behind, Kokrak hit all the correct shots to pull away from a fading Scottie Scheffler and Martin Trainer to win for the third time in 13 months.
To get in the mix,On Sunday Kokrak sunk a 12-foot birdie putt on the 13th hole, then hit a 25-foot birdie putt on the 14th hole, Memorial Park's most difficult, to move within one shot. He tied for the lead after hitting a wedge on the 115-yard 15th hole with a front pin to 6 feet.
Even though he could have reached the par-5 16th with a mid-iron, he elected to lay up due to muck on his golf ball from rain earlier in the week. Kokrak made his fourth consecutive birdie with a wedge shot to 5 feet. He was well on his way by then, and he ended at 10-under 270.

Indian Golfer Anirban Lahiri needed at least two birdies to make the cut after being three over through 28 holes in the weather-hit second round of the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Houston Open which he wasn't able to hit and missed the cut.
