Korda's journey to victory began with a playoff win in her hometown event in Southern California, where she showcased her resilience by closing with an eagle and a birdie. Last week, she triumphed in another playoff amidst brutal winds. Her winning streak continued at the Ford Championship, where she maintained her composure despite the soggy conditions.
Reflecting on her achievement, Korda attributed her success to staying focused and taking each shot as it came. She acknowledged the mental challenge of performing consistently, especially after previous wins, but remained steadfast in her approach.
Having won the Drive-On Championship earlier in the year, Korda took a break from the LPGA Tour's Asian swing before returning to win the Fir Hill Seri Pak Championship. Her victory at the Ford Championship marked her third consecutive win, a rare accomplishment in professional golf.
Korda's stellar performance throughout the tournament, including a final-round 65, secured her 11th career LPGA victory. She became the first LPGA Tour player in eight years to win three straight starts, and the first American to achieve this since 1978.
Despite facing tough competition from players like Australian rookie Hira Naveed and veteran Lexi Thompson, Korda remained focused on her game plan. She navigated the challenging conditions with skill and determination, ultimately emerging victorious.
Looking ahead, Korda expressed her excitement for the upcoming T-Mobile Match Play event in Las Vegas, where she aims to extend her winning streak. Her remarkable achievements have positioned her as one of the top contenders in professional women's golf, marking the beginning of what could be a special year for her.
