March 16:
India’s Jeev Milkha Singh ended his campaign at the WGC-CA Championship on Sunday with a fourth place finish after closing with a final two-under-par 70 for a 14-under-par 274 total at the Doral Golf Resort in Florida.

The reigning Asian number one, who started the day tied for third, mounted a spirited challenge for his title hopes quickly with an opening birdie.

He made further birdies on the fifth and seventh holes but two bogeys on the fourth and eighth in his outward-nine set his title challenge back.

After making the turn in 35, Singh again recorded birdies on the 12th and 16th. But another costly bogey on the 13th derailed his chances of winning his first title on the US PGA Tour.

Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng, who was among the first-round joint leaders, signed off with a 71 for a 278 total to take a share of 13th place in the elite field which was topped by American Phil Mickelson who secured his first World Golf Championships title with a one-stroke victory over Nick Watney of the United States.

New Zealand’s Mark Brown is tied for 46th place after closing with a 285 while Asian Tour’s Honorary Member, K.J Choi took a share of 59th place on 288.

Korea’s Yang Yong-eun, who won his maiden US title at the Honda Classic last week, returned with a 294 to take 74th place while Chinese Taipei’s Lin Wen-tang took a share of 66th place on 290.
