Avani Prashanth's Mallorca Finish Sparks Excitement Ahead of LET Q-School Journey
Indian golfer Avani Prashanth concluded the Mallorca Ladies Golf Open on a positive note, securing a commendable 13th place. The 17-year-old player maintained an even par performance through 15 holes but faced challenges on the 16th and 17th, where she had previously secured birdies in the initial rounds. Despite encountering setbacks with dropped shots, she managed to finish with a one-over 73 in the final round, ending at 2-under and sharing the 13th spot. This result is a notable achievement for Avani, who is set to participate in the Final Stage of the LET Q-School and transition to professional status.
In terms of tournament outcomes, the Ladies European Tour saw German golfer Alexandra securing her second title in two months. Her impressive 13-under-par total of 203 resulted in a convincing five-stroke victory over Thai player Trichat Cheenglab. Alexander's triumph propelled her from 17th to fifth on the Race to Costa del Sol and elevated her to the top spot on the Rookie of the Year Rankings.
Cheenglab, with a second-place finish, earned 320 points and ascended to the lead in the Race to Costa del Sol rankings. Looking ahead, the LET continues in Spain with the upcoming Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de Espana, marking the final event of the 2023 Race to Costa del Sol. The top contenders for the Race title include Cheenglab, Boutier, Diksha, Johanna Gustavsson, and Forsterling, with the latter needing a victory in the last event to stay in contention for the title.
