Tata Steel Tour Championship: SSP Chawrasia initiates the tour with massive hit of 63

Round 1 of Tata steel championship comes to an end where Indian golfers had shooted marvelous hits which is not less than a good treat to the spectators who came to enjoy the match as well as players who were playing.

On round 1, SSP Chawrasia fired a tremendous score of nine-under 63, he made an enormous comeback after the first round and took 4 shot lead which is very meritorious and unusual to see by any golfer. SSP Chawrasia pulled of an early birdie on the second hole despite his stance being in the bunker on his approach shot.

While Shubankar Sharma and defending champion Gaganjeet Bhullar were tied for second at five-par 67. In which Gaganjeet hitted 7 birdies at round 3,4,6,14,15,16 and 18 and two bogeys at round 7 and 9. And Shubhankar Sharma had scored by hitting 7 birdies at rounds 4,8,9,11,12,16 and 18 respectively along with two bogeys at rounds 7 and 10.

 

Shubhankar Sharma said, “After a slow start, I found my putting touch in Beldih. I also made some crucial conversions towards the end of my round. It was a satisfying day as I was quite patient on the greens. I was happy to end the day with a long birdie putt on the 18th.”

The first round of PGTI’s season ending event saw one half of the field play their first nine holes at Golmuri Golf Course and second nine at Beldih Golf Course while the other half of the field played Beldih first followed by Golmuri.

This format will also be followed for the next three rounds of the tournament in Jamshedpur with the par for the round being 72.
