International Media Coverage of Indian Players

image
Posted by Manvi Singh 01 Nov 2021
Is the media coverage of Indian players limited on the international media domain even when they are playing phenomenally good at the tournaments? Does it make things to be biased towards the more extensive golfing states like the USA, Europe, Thailand, etc? What do you think?

For example,

Recently Col Mohan Sharma, father of Shubhankar Sharma tweeted,

"Dear @GOLFTV and @EuropeanTour,
It's a great shame that we are not able to see @shubhankargolf event today, as much as we should. Esp when you are showing the other 2 players in the gp much more. Very unequal treatment. Disappointed! I spk as a common golf fan and his father."

Shubhankar Sharma tied 3 on the leaderboard at Acciona Open, and the query was further hashtagged to #PutShubhuOnTV.

Do you think this is an adverse issue to be addressed?

It happens in most international sports. This is also due to the number of people following a specific golfer and the country represented. For example: when India is not in the finals of a cricket tournament, the viewership drops by more than 50%.
