Tiger woods gets two stroke penalty for drop ball

Tiger woods gets a 2 stroke penalty of dropping his ball few yards behind. On day two of the masters 2013 at the 15th hole, his second shot hits the flag stick and goes into the water. Tiger drops his ball few steps behind to when he had hit his earlier shot. As per the rule, you are supposed to drop it at the same spot... believe it or not, this was informed by a TV viewer to the PGA ... :-)

In golf the rules are very well defined and have to be followed as it is written. Ignorance of a rule in professional golf is no excuse, Tiger was ignorant of the rule. In his case he had the option of playing from the drop zone which was not favorable the only other alternative was to play the shot from the nearest point from where the last shot was played, during the drop he took off 2 yds deliberately to make the shot more accurate- Decision should have been disqualification, why was it not implemented, the rule. This is my opinion , though Tiger is my all time favorite.

Tiger was in fact fortunate that he got away with a 2 stroke penalty. He was to be disqualified for returning a wrong score card.

leniency towards certain rules should be allowed. Will make the game more approachable to non golfers. This incident was a bit much and Tiger was very unfortunate.
