With Asian countries producing over 20 golfers in the top 10 rankings, why has India failed to place any golfers in this elite group despite having over 200 golf courses?

With talent in abundance, why aren't Indian golfers breaking into the global elite? The answer might lie beyond the fairways

In India, while we have over 200 golf courses, the quality of training facilities often lags. Many Indian golfers don’t have access to these advanced technologies, which could help refine their skills at a much faster pace. Furthermore, high-quality coaching remains limited to a few urban centers. Without consistent access to top-tier coaches who understand the intricacies of modern golf techniques and the psychological aspects of the game, our golfers struggle to match the precision of their international counterparts.

There’s also a gap in physical conditioning and strength training. International players undergo rigorous strength, flexibility, and endurance training programs tailored specifically for golf. Indian players often don’t get the same level of individualized fitness coaching. The result? They might have the talent, but when they compete on the international stage, they face players who are technically sharper and physically better prepared.

For India to truly break into the top 10 rankings, bridging this gap in training infrastructure and technology is key.
