The SAARC Golf Championship is the region’s premier annual international amateur team event conceived to promote harmony and co-operation through sports in the SAARC region and invites the participation of national amateur golf teams of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It is held under the aegis of the official golf unions of the participating SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Co operation) Countries.
The championship includes a corporate golf day titled the “SAARC Friendship Trophy” and involves the participation of VIPs, senior corporate executives and Government heads who play alongside the national amateur teams. This event tees off on the first day before the main championship commences, or on the final day. This famous city is the capital of Rajasthan and has earned universal renown as the “Pink City ", and pink it is, with beautiful constructed palaces, havelis and forts. A strong wall encircles the old city and even today has a suggestion of formidable strength; its function of protecting all within is obvious.
Jaipur is a Golfing city too with its historical, Rambagh Golf Club a challenging,18-Hole, PAR 70 championship course. The Course is strategically designed on a sandy loam soil. Picturesquely located with a nice scenic beauty , moving around the course one is afforded with a view of Rambagh Palace Hotel, Moti Doongari Fort, Nahargarh Fort and Birla Planetarium.
26th November 2011 afternoon is scheduled for a visit to Rambagh Golf Club for registration, practice round, manager’s meeting followed by a press conference.
