“The Golf Foundation" boys head 2013 OOM

Rashid Khan and Chikkarangappa, (Golf Foundation beneficiaries), have created waves in the national golfing circuit by claiming first and second place respectively in the PGTI Order of Merit 2013.

Rashid Khan of Delhi claimed number one position on the Rolex Rankings after finishing sixth at the McLeod Russel Tour Championship held in RCGC Kolkata. Rashid’s total earnings for the 2013 season were Rs. 46,38,284/-. He thus sealed the Rolex Player of the Year title with 10 top-10s finish in 2013 which included two wins. It has been a highly satisfying year for him. He won two events and was in contention in a number of events This is a huge boost for him as he will be playing as a full-card holder on the Asian Tour next year.

Chikkarangappa

Chikkarangappa of Bangalore was second on the Rolex Rankings with earnings of Rs. 32,65,313/- post his tied eighth place finish at the McLeod Russel Tour Championship. Chikkarangappa, who had one win and nine other top-10s in the season, also won the Emerging Player of the Year race as he recorded the maximum earnings among all the rookies in the 2013 season. The rookies were very strong this year and coming out on top among the rookies is special. His putting was the highlight of the season.

In the Amateur space, 8-year-old sensation Shubham Jaglan (son of a milk man) set a World record by playing 9-under (in 9 holes) at a National Tournament in Classic Golf Resorts earlier in the year. He then became the 1st Indian to ever win the TaylorMade World Jr's in 7-8 age category in Las Vegas,USA a few months ago.

'The Golf Foundation' is a Registered Charitable Society formed in 2000 by like-minded golfers who wanted to give back to the game by helping a pool of talent lying untapped & creating numerous, 'slumdog millionaires'. The Foundation is accredited by the IGU (Indian Golf Union), the premier golf body in the country. TGF hopes to create a global foot print with these junior golfers ( underprivileged and exceptionally talented) since they are highly motivated, hardworking, dedicated to the game & have the fire in their belly to excel at the National & International level.
