Avani Prashanth finished the first round of the Australian Amateur Championships in a good position, tying for seventh with a score of 1-under 72. Aina Fujimoto leads the competition with a 4-under score. Avani, who was the runner-up at the Australian Masters of Amateurs last week, played well with two birdies and one bogey on her first nine holes.

Sandeep Yadav, the 2023 Indian National champion, had a solid start with a score of 1-under 71. The players are playing on two different courses, and the par for women at Keysborough Golf Club is 73, while for men, it's 72. At Yarra Yarra, both men and women play with a par of 70.
This tournament is special because both men and women play together. In the women's section, Rianne Mikhaela Malixi, who won last week, and three others are tied for second at three-under. Avani is tied for seventh.
In the men's section, the leader is Australia's Kai Komulainen with a score of 6-under 64 at Yarra Yarra. Mitchell Kale of New Zealand is in second place with a score of 5-under 67 at Keysborough.
Among other Indian players in Australia, Heena Kang and Varun Muthappa secured tied positions, and Rohit Narwal was tied-165.
Avani had a good round with birdies on the par-3 15th and par-5 17th but had a bogey on par-5 18th. Sandeep Yadav's round included a double bogey and a bogey, but he finished strong with back-to-back birdies.
