SCORESHEET
DAY 2
DAY 1

September 18th 2010, Gurgaon: Ashok Kumar went on the rampage on day three of the DLF Masters 2010 as he shot a second successive 65 that helped him establish a mammoth eight-stroke lead. Ashok’s total score now reads 16 under 200 while Gaganjeet Bhullar, who fired a one over 73 in the third round, is placed second at eight under 208.

Ashok Kumar (70-65-65) continued to hit it with pin-point accuracy as he landed most of his shots within five feet of the pin on Saturday. He thus earned as many as seven birdies and an eagle besides two bogeys.

Ashok, a seven-time winner on the Aircel PGTI, got off to a flying start in round three as he sank a 30-footer for his first birdie of the day on the third hole. He then birdied the fourth, sixth and ninth to go four under at the turn.

The Delhi golfer picked up three more strokes on the back nine as he made birdies on the 10th, 13th, 16th, an eagle on the 18th and bogeys on the 12th and 17th. Ashok sank a 20 feet putt for eagle on the 18th to wrap up the day at 16 under and emerge as the outright favourite for the title.

Ashok said, “I’ve been playing my normal aggressive game this week and that has paid dividends. My hitting has been excellent and I have planned my strategy for each and every hole very carefully. I just want to continue playing in the same manner during the final round. I have a huge lead but I cannot afford to get complacent since Gaganjeet and Anirban have the ability to shoot very low scores in the final round.”

Gaganjeet Bhullar (68-67-73) made four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey in his round of 73 on Saturday as he struggled with his putting.

Anirban Lahiri (70-69-70) is placed third at seven under 209. He sank three birdies and dropped a lone bogey in the third round.

C Muniyappa’s 67 was among one of the best scores of the round and helped him finish the day in tied fourth along with Ajeetesh Sandhu at six under 210.

Jyoti Randhawa, Himmat Singh Rai, Gaurav Pratap Singh, Amardip Sinh Malik and Sri Lankan Anura Rohana share sixth place at five under 211. Jyoti Randhawa fired a 73 in round three.

In the team championship, the team of Ashok Kumar, Gaganjeet Bhullar and amateur Arun Kishore Khanna won the competition with a net score of 129. The team of C Muniyappa, Amardip Sinh Malik and amateur Amit Sood finished second with a net score of 131.
