Anirban Lahiri (68-68-74) put up a gritty performance to post a 74 on the toughest day for scoring at the DLF Golf & Country Club this week. The 24-year-old, eyeing his maiden DLF Masters crown, held on to his overnight lead as he fired two birdies against four bogeys in round three. His birdies came on the 14th and 18th. While on the 14th he converted a 25 feet putt, on the 18th he landed his third shot within six feet of the flag.
Lahiri said, “It was a tough day for scoring as it was not easy to judge the direction of the wind. The pin positions were also quite challenging today. One needed a really special effort to shoot an under par score.
“I didn’t hit it as well as I would’ve liked to. However, I hold a two-stroke advantage at the moment and I need to putt well in the final round to capitalize on it. I’ll focus on hitting more greens in regulation and hitting it closer to the hole in round four in order to maximize the birdie opportunities.”
