With under par 13 and a magnificent 65 in the final round, Harris English much after his stellar performance in the past week wins the PGA Travelers title.
Harris English with his winning smile at Travelers Championship.
Rolling in a 20-foot birdie putt at the eighth playoff hole, Harris English marked his victory surpassing the American pro-golfer, Kramer Hickok at the TPC River Highlands, Connecticut winning the US PGA Travelers Championship.
After the longest playoff at the PGA history with an 11-holer for 1949 Motor City Open that was halted by darkness between Cary Middlecoff and Lloyd Mangrum, the PGA Travelers playoff turned to be listed as the second-longest playoff in the history of US PGA.
“This was awesome,” English states, “The fans were keeping us in it. Hats off to Kramer! What a competitor! We were grinding out there, making those six-and-seven-footers. That was incredible. What an experience! The fans are always awesome here. Glad we gave them a good little show.”
After Hickok two-putted with 22 feet and English gloriously finished with his 20-foot birdie putt, sparking a right fist pump in celebration, the players ended the longest play-off in nine years. Clubbing-in at the top three, Australian pro-golfer Marc Leishman at 268 after closing 64 with Mexican wonder Abraham Ancer with 269, the final round was a true event of spectacular changes to the Travelers’ leaderboard.
Anirban Lahiri vouching for his play at the Olympics.
The Olympic-bound Indian golfer, Anirban Lahiri, missed the halfway cut at the Travelers Championship after carding 5-over-75 in the second round. Amidst the search for his maiden PGA Tour win, Lahiri was unable to get many putts inside 10 feet as he vouched in for two-birdies against five-bogeys and a double-bogey in the second round.
Prepping up on his Olympic adventure, Lahiri holds high hopes in representing the Indian flag along with Udayan Mane who recently qualified for the same.
