June 14th 2011, Panchkula, India: Here's some good news for the golf lovers of the tricity. Soon, the city is going to get a world-class golf course that will meet all international standards.

The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has started working on this project and earmarked around Rs 5 crore to provide facilities of international standards at the 18-hole golf course.

By June end, tenders will be invited by the authority. Till date, HUDA has short-listed names of five companies that will make improvements to existing layout of the golf course.

The 18-hole golf course measuring approximately 135 acres is situated on the banks of river Ghaggar.

Soon, automatic irrigation system will be installed at the lavish golf course. The sprinklers that will be installed will provide right quantity of moisture during games time. Once the renovation work is complete, the Panchkula golf course will beat all the foreign golf course.

The step will prove to be boon for the golfers as now they will get a chance to tee in a revamped golf course.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had expressed his willingness to renovate the golf course to such an extent that it meets all expectations.

Earlier as well, tenders were issued twice to develop the Panchkula golf course. However, nothing concrete could be formulated then.

HUDA officials later decided in a meeting that instead of allotting tenders for automatic irrigation system and renovation work to two different firms, one big company be allowed to work on this project.

The Panchkula golf course which has more than 1500 members was setup in 2003 by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA).
