New Delhi, December 15, 2024: The Indian Golf Union (IGU) successfully conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and elections for office bearers and Governing Council members for the term 2024-2026 on Sunday, December 15, at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The proceedings were held under the supervision of Returning Officer Justice (Retd) Rameshwar Singh Malik, ensuring full compliance with the Model Election Guidelines and the Memorandum of Association (MOA).

The AGM agenda included key resolutions such as the adoption of the Annual Report, approval of accounts for FY 2023-24, appointment of auditors, and other essential items, all of which were unanimously approved by the members.
The elections, conducted transparently and unopposed, resulted in the following appointments:

Focus on Excellence and Growth
Re-elected IGU President Brijinder Singh outlined the council’s roadmap, emphasizing continuity in their mission to advance Indian golf. Plans include:
Singh highlighted recent milestones achieved by Indian golfers, such as Avani Prashanth’s historic victory at the Queen Sirikit Cup and Kartik Singh’s impressive performances on the international stage. “We are committed to creating an environment where Indian golfers can excel, supported by top-notch facilities and resources,” he said.
The Indian Open's Growth
The IGU also announced a six-year sponsorship deal with Hero MotoCorp for the Indian Open, the Union's flagship event. The prize purse for the DP World Tour event has risen to $2.25 million, with the next edition set for March 27-31, 2025, at DLF Golf & Country Club, Gurugram. Plans to rotate the venue across India in future editions are in the pipeline.
Financial Transparency and Stability
Honorary Treasurer Sanjeev Rattan reported significant improvements in IGU’s financial health, with revenues rising from INR 12 crore in 2021-22 to INR 24.5 crore in 2023-24 due to effective cost management.
This new leadership team aims to build on past successes and take Indian golf to unprecedented heights in the coming years.
