The event will see Aircel PGTI's top 60 order of merit players from the 2009 season compete over 72 holes for a prize purse of INR 8 million. The tournament will be a 72-hole stroke play championship but there will be no cut applied after 36 holes and all players will be guaranteed prize money.
Announcing the event, Mr. Padamjit Sandhu, Director, PGTI, said, “Creating a year ending championship is in line with our endeavour of creating more competitive playing opportunities for our players and acknowledging their efforts and achievements through each year. I would like to thank all our tour partners, event sponsors and golf clubs, who have partnered with Aircel PGTI over the last three years to help develop a strong and competitive playing platform for our professional players.”
“PGTI Masters will be developed into a flagship event on the tour over the years, and will witness the highest level of competition in the country." Sandhu added.
Mr. Ravi Puri, CEO, Classic Golf Resort, said, “We are very pleased to hear about the inaugural PGTI Masters – the season ending event that has been conceptualized by the Aircel-PGTI and it is our privilege to host this momentous event.
