Gurbaaz Mann
Gurbaaz Mann made an ideal start to the week as he hit it close on the front nine to earn birdies on the first, fourth, fifth and seventh. Mann then converted a 10-feet birdie putt on the 10th to go up to five under. The 27-year-old made his longest putt of the day, a 15-footer on the 12th, to pocket his sixth birdie. Gurbaaz ended the day at seven under after he sank another birdie on the 16th.

Mann said, “I’m really pleased with my effort today. I putted really well even though the greens here are very tricky. I also hit it pretty close through the day and used the lob wedge to perfection. One needs to be accurate off the tee at this course as the rough is up. It’s important to know how to make good use of the lob wedge here.”

Gaganjeet Bhullar of Kapurthala, Bangalore-based golfers Anirban Lahiri and Abhishek Jha and Bangladesh’s Mohd. Siddikur Rahman are tied second at four under 66.

Anirban Lahiri, the 2009 Aircel-PGTI Order of Merit champion, made two eagles (first and fifth) in his opening round.

Raju Ali Mollah of Kolkata is placed sixth at three under 67.

Gurki Shergill of Pune is in tied seventh along with Gaurav Diwan, Toran Bikram Shahi, Randhir Singh Ghotra, Digvijay Singh, Vikrant Chopra and Shaurya Singh at two under 68.
