PREVIOUS EVENT REPORT - 3rd Edition
The Golf Foundation is proud to announce the
4th Edition of its
Invitational Fund Raiser Tournament. This purpose of this prestigious and extremely successful golf tournament is to raise funds for the cause of the Golf Foundation – that of helping underprivileged young golfers train and enter the world of competitive (both Indian and international) golf, with an eye on producing world champions.
Play for a Cause
Set up in 2000 as a Registered Charitable Society by Amit Luthra – Asian Games Golf Gold Medalist, Arjuna Award winner and multiple times India Champion – the Golf Foundation has already created major changes in the lives of many financially deprived and exceptionally talented kids, who are already and will be medal winners for the country.
Amit has always strongly maintained that India posseses the golfing talent to produce world beaters; just that the talent needs to be developed and honed. As he pointed out Aamir Khan on the show ‘Satyamev Jayate’, “Golf talent in India is like a rough diamond. The Golf Foundation’s objective is to polish this diamond and craft it into a state where it can compete with the best in the world”.
Well, there’s always more to do, but there is good reason to believe that plenty of ‘diamonds’ are shining at the highest levels of Indian and international golf.
Producing Champions
Just a few of the Golf Foundation champions that have made a mark on the Indian and international circuits are Ashok Kumar, Rashid Khan, Chikkarangappa, Honey Baisoya, Manu Gandas and Harinder Gupta.
Among the amateurs, Shubham Jaglan is already an internationally acclaimed golf prodigy in his own right. The World Champion four times in his age category, this youngster has won over 140 tournaments to date! Just this year (2016), he won the World Championship 2016 held in Pinehurst, USA, by a whopping margin of 11 strokes, and the European Championship 2016 by an even bigger margin of 13 strokes! Another promising youngster is Harshjeet Singh Sethie, who has won over 90 tournaments. He is the #1 in the current IGU Merit List 2016 in B Category.
The list goes on. Currently, the Foundation supports 22 promising young golfers with specialized coaching, equipment and financial assistance.
