Greater NOIDA, January 24: Padamjit Sandhu aced the eighth hole at the Jaypee Greens Golf Resort to win a Volkswagen Passat car at the BBC World News 'Spirit of Golf' tournament played here on Saturday, 24 January, 2009. The event, managed by Digraj Golf was the brainchild of Jonothan Howlett and Taranjeet Singh of BBC.

Cricketer Nikhil Chopra won in the Overall Gross category while Nalini Singh triumphed in the Ladies category.

The fourth edition of the tournament was played in three different handicap categories with the Double Peoria scoring system used to evaluate the results. 12 hidden holes were selected and the gross and nett winners decided on the basis of these.

Sanjeev Garg won in the 0-12 Original Handicap category while Manoj Sharan finished runner-up in that category. In the 13-24 category, Umesh Dubey triumphed with Param Saikya finishing second. While the winner's prizes were given away by Michael Burke, General Manager – India, Virgin Atlantic and Punam Singh, Chief Representative – India, the runner-up prizes and the Overall Gross and Ladies prizes were presented by Sunil Dutt, Country Head – Mobile Business, Samsung India Electronics and Ms Mahika Bartholomesz, Head of PR, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau. The spot prizes for closest to the pin with a Driver and for chipping was given by Mr. Shubodip Pal, Head Marketing, HP (PSG group).

The unique aspect of the BBC World News 'Spirit of Golf' tournament was the fact that nine of the 18 holes had interesting spot-prizes on offer. Two were also Overall prizes with Visit London sponsoring the second one. In addition there was a golf clinic conducted by Digraj Singh and Abhimanyu Singh which witnessed chipping and putting lessons given to select guests.

All-in-all, the event was a mega success with participants treated to a fantastic day of golf.
