“Start young cause it ends early” is what is said for the sportsmen and women. This very fact can be held true and is also the biggest risk factor in any sport of any kind. According to a study conducted in 2013, the average age of a PGA Tour golfer is around 35-years-old. Considering the fact that one needs to take a course and training of at least 4.5 to 5 years and then after playing major tournaments finally can be called a pro, it is time consuming and a very slow process till one finally hits a big career out of the sport. But as the topic goes, a career in golf will not be able to go beyond 40 years of age as the human body starts to go through changes that make you somewhat unfit to continue the sport if you have not properly maintained yourself.

Getting gracefully tangled up in a skyrocketing career when it comes to golf cannot be labeled an easy task. With all the training and all the practicing it takes to reach a certain level that shouts of success, the earlier one starts, the better it is. When we come to speaking of golf, there are no exact age restrictions if one wants to pursue it even in their 50’s. but what makes this very same fact next to impossible is the standard required to play at the professional level which has now reached a step so high up that in order for one to reach there, you need to amass a great deal of experience before you decide to go pro.

These days when any of the golf players are interviewed, the beginning of their career starts when they had been only just four years old or maybe even younger. It is rightly said that the earlier you start, the better it is. Larry Nelson proved a player in his 20s can learn and master the game, but the reality is, few players can expect a golf career by taking his route into the professional ranks. Because it takes years and years to reach the pro level, little time is left for one to continue playing it even after their age starts to beat up their bodies till they have to finally take a back seat and reminisce about their golfing days gone by.

Getting it stretched to the maximum, a golfer might end up playing his or her best till the age of 45 and still win tournaments, but every second there are more and more youngsters with an awe-inspiring amount of fire in them, aspiring to be the best at the game and leave behind a legacy that won’t abandon its mark. In golf, it counts to a very small ratio of players who start with the game later in their lives, otherwise most of the players start as early as 2 years. But as the good news goes, players can turn professional even in their 30’s. There are numerous Tour players who snatch up the trophy even in their 40’s. Playing till such late an age, one has to keep in mind the factor that the fitness level has to be maintained in every way. The younger players to whom things like fitness come naturally, tend to have an upper hand on all this.

Apart from this, there are plenty of technologies that continue to redesign golf clubs and all golf equipment to make them more and more precise and as handy to the golfer as possible. So even if one starts late with learning golf and wants to continue to play after the said age, it does become a rather daunting task.
