Kiradech finishes T44 as Patrick Reed seals his first ever green jacket at Masters 2018

Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat, who garnered accolades and headlines by becoming the first Thai to make a cut at the Masters, finished T44 at the moist sought after event.

It was a mouthwatering showdown as American Golfer Patrick Reed showcased that it takes a lion’s heart to outdo biggies and script history by winning the grandest event in style. That explains how Reed, in his quest to seal the green jacket, outflanked golfing giants in the likes of Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth to ride the crest of success.

Earlier, Reed ensured that Rory doesn’t get a breather. Then, with Jordan Spieth on a blitzkrieg, Reed endured the heat and refused to go down.

When Rickie Fowler’s 18th hole birdie forced Reed to come up that long, long hill and make a par with golfing immortality at stake, Reed left his second in a bad spot–20 feet above the hole–only to do the perfect work of leaving himself a dead-straight uphill 3-footer to win.

His Sunday 71 left him a shot ahead of Fowler, who finished with a 67, and two ahead of Spieth, whose 64, with nine birdies, set off roars all day around Augusta National. McIlroy, needing to win to complete the career Grand Slam, missed a two-footer for eagle at the second hole–it would have drawn him even with Reed, who began the day three shots up–and the poor guy could never make a putt that mattered, trudging in with a 74.

Reed had the game and the grit to beat them all. And when he slipped on that green jacket, he had everyone's respect. He has proved that playing for his country. He did it Sunday for himself.

The final test was a 25-foot putt down the scary slope on the 18th green, and Reed pressed down both hands, begging it to stop as it rolled 3 feet by. From there, the 27-year-old Texan calmly rolled in the par putt for a 1-under 71 and a one-shot victory. Known as "Captain America" for his play in the Ryder Cup, Reed added a far more important title: Masters champion.

Tiger Woods saved his best for last at the 2018 Masters, shooting a final-round 69 and finally providing some magic for the patrons at Augusta National.

Woods made five birdies and an eagle on the 15th hole to shoot his first under-par round this week, finishing the tournament at one over. Woods nearly aced the 4th hole and played the par 5s in five under for the day, something he hasn't done in one round since the first round of the 2010 Masters

Reed, 27, finished the tournament on 15 shots under par and held off late challenges from compatriots Jordan Spieth, who fired a remarkable round of 64, and Rickie Fowler, who increased the late pressure by making a sensational birdie on the final hole.

“I knew it was going to be tough,” said Reed, who attended the nearby Augusta State University after leaving the University of Georgia under a cloud of controversy, including allegations of cheating that he has denied.
