Justin Thomas led the clubhouse during morning rounds with a solid 68, but currently sits third overall with birdies on 17 and 18. This remarkable performance speaks volumes for Thomas' resilience and ability.
Weather was a critical component in the first round's drama. Conditions started off tough with rain and an unpredictable headwind in the morning; yet players like Thomas flourished in spite of it all. Meanwhile, Tiger Woods returned after 20 years and struggled through an uneven round, finishing with a score of 79 with several bogeys along the way.
As Friday is set to mark the cut-off point, players must navigate constantly shifting conditions in order to survive and eventually make the cut.
