Back in form with T16 at Hero Open and T9 at Cazoo Classic, Shubhankar Sharma yet again closed at 8 under, tied 12 at the Italian Open held at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club. The other players who tied with him are Spanish golfer Adri Arnaus and Australian golfer Min Woo Lee.

Over the four days, the Indian golfer had played a phenomenal par with 75-66-69-66 strokeplay. Climbing up the leaderboard on a gradual note, the T12 position for Sharma has elevated him to 104th in the Race to Dubai Rankings. Even though six events continue to standby that should secure his card for the next season on the European Tour.

With eight birdies and three bogeys at 5 under for the final day, Shubhankar Sharma left no stone unturned to compete with the best names like Czech Masters champion Johannes Veerman, English golfer Richard Bland, Swedish professional Henrik Stenson and many more.

The Italian Open champion, Nicolai Højgaard closed on Sunday at 13 under with an equal par on the final day as he lifted the trophy. The Italian Open witnessed him lifting his maiden title at the European Tour with making history as the Danish golfer and his brother became the first brothers to win back to back events on the European Tour after Rasmus Højgaard won last week's Omega European Masters in Switzerland.
