To expanding horizons, setting new records and scaling newer heights is no mean feat! But Shubhankar Sharma’s astonishing surge in the global terrain proves his capability of racking up accolades.

Now, the swift and suave Golfer claimed a slice of history by becoming the first ever Indian to win the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year on the European Tour. He won this honour after finishing tied-41st at the DP World Tour Championship.
Sharma follows Jon Rahm (2017), Wang Jeunghun (2016), Byeong Hun An (2015) and Brooks Koepka (2014) who have been the four Rookies before him. Interestingly, the 22-year-old Sharma is the third Asian in last four years to win this European Tour accolade, after Byeong Hun An (2015) and Wang Jeunghun (2016).
Another positive takeaway for Sharma was he finished 28th in the Race to Dubai standings to guarantee himself a place at The Open at Royal Portrush next year as the Top-30 get a spot.

Proud father Col Mohan Sharma tweeted, ‘It's a surreal moment for all of us in the Family. First Indian ever to win this coveted honour. Our sincere gratitude to everybody involved in our journey. As they say, it's just a good start. Miles to go.’
The world woke up to Shubhankar’s power when he recorded his first tour win in the Joburg Open and followed this with a second win at the Maybank Championship in February 2018.
With the talented golfer galloping forward at an incredible pace, we hope to see more chapters being added to the Shubhankar story.
