A few lines about me: An alumni of the Madras Christian College and Jawaharlal Nehru University, I am an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer serving the country for over two decades. Apart from Golf, I love playing different games such as Badminton, Squash and Tennis.
What inspired me to take up Golf: When I went to Kerala as a young officer, I met the President of the Trivandrum Golf Club who was a retired senior bureaucrat. He advised me to take membership after paying a hefty sum of Rs 1200. I was quick to retort and said that Golf is not a game I intend to play before I turned 50. And quick came his answer. He said that it's better to start early rather than struggle to learn the game at the age of 50. I That was the trigger and I applied for my membership that very same week.
Interesting moment: A hole-in-one at the Railway Course. At an undulating 185 yards, the green was not visible from the tee box. After several minutes of search and almost concluding that the ball was lost, it was indeed surprising to find it in the hole.
One thing I would change about Golf: When I play at some of the busy courses and see the number of divots on the fairways, I am tempted to advise that all players use a tee for every shot on the fairway till the green repairs itself. I wish I could change this about Golf.
Any Golf superstition: I am sure this would have called for an interesting read, but unfortunately I am not superstitious at all.
My fave 4-ball: Any group that is fun to play with….
