About me: An ardent Golfer, I have been privileged to be one of
the top amateurs in India early in my career. Inspired
by my uncle and my brother who loved playing Golf, I was always keen on the
sport as a kid and took up the game seriously in 1980. I was a regular on the
Asian Tour and turned professional only in 1992. Currently, I am the CEO of Professional
Golf Tour of India (PGTI), which will become an ‘Open Tour’ in 2018.
The
PGTI had a limit of a maximum of 15 foreign players in each tournament till
date but now there will be no such restriction on foreigner earning their cards
through the PGTI Qualifying School.
Memorable Golf moment: For me, my first victory at
the PGI Championship of India was my most memorable Golf moment. Interestingly, I won a car and the joy
then was truly unlimited. My domestic titles also include two wins each at the
Honda Siel PGA and the Surya Nepal Masters, as well as wins at the BPGC Open,
Meerut Open and The Hindu Open, among others.
One thing I would like to
change about Golf: I do not want to change anything about the game, but I would
definitely want to see it become as popular as cricket.
My dream four-ball: Tiger Woods, Jason Day, Greg Norman and me!
Fave Golfing destination: It has to be Scotland as it’s an absolute
delight for golfers.
