About me: I am into amateur golf currently, planning to turn professional in the near future i.e. in April. I have represented India in various amateur events like The Nomura Cup and the Asia Pacific amateur championship. I started playing golf when I was about 10, it's been a fun journey till now and I really look forward towards the big stage now. I am based out of Ahmedabad, Gujarat and the home club is Gulmohar Greens Golf and Country Club Ltd. This is the place where I started my journey from and coincidentally my grandfather owns the golf club which makes it easier for me to practice and not worry about anything else.
Between Soccer and Golf: Initially, It was a tough choice to make between football and golf as I was in the school football team and I started playing football when I was very young, of course, I picked up golf later, but then came a day where I had to choose between golf and football? I chose golf. The simple reason being every morning when I wake up I look forward to going on the golf course and learn something new every day, for me it was never about winning it was about getting better.
Golf achievements: I've had some success on the junior tour and the amateur tour- though my biggest achievement was to defend my title in Coimbatore. The previous year I had won my first amateur event in Coimbatore and it was a great feeling for me to go back to my favourite course and defend it the following year.
My win at the southern India amateur at Prestige Golfshire, I played some really hot golf and I was 8 shots clear of the field, shot -15 for the week which has been my best golf till date.
And then, of course, playing the Nomura Cup and the Asia Pacific amateur championship has helped me gain some valuable experiences.
Funny moments: My second hole in one was pretty funny. It was at Kahlaar blues and greens on hole number 7. I had about 173 yards to the flag and the wind little hurting from the left. The pin was tucked under the ridge so we couldn't see the bottom of the cup, I hit my 6iron dead in line with the flagstick and we all thought it would be pretty close to the flag. Only once approached the green we realised that the ball had actually gone in the hole and all of us went bonkers.
What would I like to change about golf: I wouldn’t' want to change anything about the game of golf. It's the greatest game ever played. But in India, I wished there more public golf courses, we mostly have private courses which are not affordable to all. Public courses will help the game grow faster as more people will be aware about the game of golf.
