About you: Robert Frost had quoted in one of
his beautiful poems ' Stopping by woods on a snowy evening' - " And miles to go before I sleep, and
miles to go before I sleep" . I am Vaarad Gupte, sixteen years of age and
I have to work hard to achieve my goals
and create a niche for myself . Right now I feel embarrassed as there is not
much to share about me. Recently I have
given my 10th exams from Lodha World School, Palava and further I would like to
pursue business studies in junior college.
What inspired you to take golf: Infact my dad was very interested in playing
golf, but the day I went with him for a demo class, dad was impressed by my
approach. Hence he stepped back and initiated me to join golf. Two reasons that
inspired me were -
1. Being an amateur
in this sport, I stood first from the last in the very first tournament .
2. Golf GOD
"Tiger Wood" his videos and shots inspire me a lot.
Why
golf and not any other sport: My parents always tell me not to follow the
crowd, but to do something unique and different. I have been good at football and volleyball,
but I have never felt satisfied . However, when I play golf I have that
competitive spirit till my last shot.
Every time I challenge myself by raising my bar and setting a new milestone.
Your golfing achievement:
I have a long way to go. It's just the beginning. I have received
trophies and gift hampers for long drives. I had the opportunity to play with
well- renowned gentlemen like Dr Dee (IBM Global Managing Director) and many
more. I had given a tough competition to Ex- Indian cricketer Mr. Ajit Agarkar
and was 2nd runners up in "The Callaway Chrome soft Challenge" where
I played against many business tycoons.
My Golfing Achievements:
:-Winner Of The Palava Opens.
:-Winner Of The
Golfnxt Tournament.
:-Winner Of The TBC
Golf Championship.
:-2nd Runner s up
At The Callaway Chrome Soft Challenge and many more..
My actual
achievement has yet to come, the dream of playing with Golf God Tiger Wood and
Rory Mcllroy.
Interesting/funny moment: During Palava Opens on the 16th hole
I was 2 shot lead. My first shot was on the boundary of the deep water hazard.
Lucky I was able to play the ball as it lay. But as I lost my balance after the impact, suddenly I felt
something in my stomach and then after a few seconds I realized that I was almost
trapped in the deep water hazard and was not able to come out.
What would I like
to change about Golf: Nothing. Infact Golf changed me.
