September 12th 2013: Former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko's debut on the Challenge Tour did not go as planned after he finished 12 over par for his first round.

The brief highlight for the 36-year-old amateur, who retired from football after Euro 2012, was a birdie on the 132-yard second at the Kharkov Superior Cup in Ukraine.

However, eight bogeys to the turn saw the two-handicapper go out in 43 and although his back nine began promisingly with four pars in five holes, a double-bogey five and dropped shots at two other holes saw him sign for an 84.

Marginally better was Russia's former tennis world number one Yevgeny Kafelnikov, who carded an 80 after two birdies, eight bogeys and a double-bogey seven.

Their scores were relatively decent in comparison to Poland's Pawel Japol, who racked up a 37-over-par 109, which included a 10 and a 13.
