November 4th 2010, Greater Noida: Mukesh Kumar of Mhow fired a six under 66 at the Jaypee Greens golf course on Thursday to win the Rs.3 million 36-hole qualifiers for the LG Race to Ireland Pro-Am. Mukesh, who had shot 69 in the opening round, totaled nine under 135 for the first two rounds. Manav Jaini of Delhi finished second with a total of seven under 137.

Mukesh Kumar (69-66) took home a cheque worth Rs. 484,950 for ending the first two rounds with the best professional score. Mukesh dropped a bogey on the 11th, his second hole of the day, and then produced an amazing run of six consecutive birdies from the 13th through the 18th. On his second nine, Mukesh picked up a lone birdie on the sixth.

Mukesh said, “It was a combination of some accurate hitting and great putting for me today. I sank two birdie putts from 15 feet on the 16th and 17th and also made a couple of tricky putts from 10 feet on the 14th and 18th.”

Manav Jaini (69-68) finished second with a total of seven under 137. His second round of 68 featured five birdies and a bogey.

Delhi’s Ashok Kumar (70-68) was placed third at six under 138.

The cut for the prize money was declared at four over 148. Fifty-one professionals made the cut.

The cut for qualification for the LG Race to Ireland Pro-Am was declared at three over 147. The top 42 professionals made the cut. .

The top 21 professionals after round two will later in the evening choose their partners from among the professionals who are placed 22nd to 42nd. These sets of two professionals each will now team up with three nominated amateurs from each company to form a team of five players that will compete in the final two rounds of the LG Race to Ireland Pro-Am.
