Ojaswini Saraswat, who has won medals at previous US Kids Golf World and Championship, recorded the day's equal second-best round of 68 to move up to fourtplace in the Girls' 10 Category at the 2023 US Kids World Championships.
The Mohali golfer shot a 4-under 68, which includes an eagle on the par-5 13th hole and three consecutive birdies from the seventh through the ninth holes. She finished the round with two bogeys, an eagle, and four birdies. At theSouthern Pines Golf Club, Americans Jessica Kim (69-68) and Iris Lee (67-70) are joint leaders with Ojaini (72-68), who is currently tied for fourth place and three strokes back.

Nihal Cheema, who was tied for second after the first round among Boys' Under-6, dropped to tied fourth after finishing bogey-bogey for a 1-over 37 in his nine-hole round. At Midland Country Club, Cheema (34-37) is five strokes behind Bradley Ferguson (33-33) after two rounds of nine holes apiece at 1-under 71.
Kabir Goyal (Boys' 8) finished his second nine-hole round with a birdie, but his three previous bogeys caused him to finish at 2-over 38, moving him from tied-fourth to tied-fifth. At Mid Pines (Back), he is four strokes off the lead held by American Stephen Sanders (35-35), who is at 2-over 74.
For Boys' Under the age of eight years and Girls Under the age of nine years play on nine-hole courses in a competition, where the layouts are age-specific in the only world event of its kind.
Other Indian youngsters that competed included Sahib Aujla (43-47), who finished T-76 in the Youngsters' 8 division at Midland Country Club, and Adit Veeramachaneni (78-72) who improved to T-45 in the Boys' 10 division at Legacy Golf Links. Chaitanya Pandey (74-75) placed T-36 in the Boys 11 division at Talamore Golf Club.
Naina Kapoor (81-80) placed 39th in the Girls' 11 division at Pinehurst 6, Shambhavi Chaturvedi (74-75) placed 22nd, and Ananyaa Sood (74-74) placed 31st in the Girls' 12 division at Pinehurst 5.
Three Indian golfers placed on the podium at the World Teen Championships for Boys and Girls last week in Pinehurst: Mahreen Bhatia (second in Girls 14), Kartik Singh (T-3 Boys 13), and Lavanya Gupta (T-3 Girls 15–18).
The U.S. Kids Golf World Championship is recognized as a ranked event for the Junior Golf Scoreboard and the American Junior Golf Association besides allowing the players to gain World Amateur Golf Ranking points.
World-class players emerging from the US Kids include the likes of World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, two-time Major winners Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas, and Sahith Theegala among others while women stars include Lexi Thompson, and the latest women’s Major winner, Allisen Corpuz, who won the US Women’s Open last month, is a three-time winner and twice runner-up at US Kids.
Aditi Ashok, India’s top woman pro, and Avani Prashanth, India’s top amateur also played with distinction at US Kids events.
