Chandigarh golfer Sandeep Sandhu became the first Indian to win the Hong Kong Seniors Open Amateur Championship played at The Hong Kong Golf Club, Fanling. He played really well with scores of 71, 72, and a fantastic final round of 67, ending with a total of 210. The runner-up, Ian Clarke from the UK, scored 222 (74, 76, 72).
Sandeep Sandhu Secures Dominant 12-Stroke Victory at HK Senior Amateur
This event took place at the famous Royal Hong Kong GC, known for hosting the HK Open with the world's best players. Players from the UK, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, and the USA took part.
Sandeep Sandhu has been doing great on the AVT Champions Tour for golfers over 50 since 2019, winning the last four events. Recently, he finished 6th in the Asia Pacific Seniors in Vietnam, the best by an Indian in the past decade, and helped India secure a 4th-place team finish.
Jaideep Singh from Kolkata, who narrowly missed winning the All India Seniors title in November, did well, finishing 13th in Hong Kong.
Looking forward, Sandhu plans to continue his success by playing in more international senior amateur events in the region and Europe.
